Warts commonly known as Masse in Hindi, are non-malignant epithelial growths, developing as a result of infection of the skin with a filterable virus, the Human Papilloma Virus (HPV). Warts are very common problem in children but can affect people of any age group & can occur on any part of the body. The various varieties of  warts according to their shapes are plane, vulgaris, filiform, plantar warts etc.

Cause: Warts are probably passed from person to person, as a result of environmental pollution. The time from the first contact to the time the warts have grown large enough to be seen is generally several months. Manifestation: A common wart is hard, horny overgrowth on skin, flesh coloured or somewhat darker with a plane or cauliflower like surface. They are usually painless and the size varies from that of a lentil seed to a split pea. Commonly warts appear on the exposed parts like hands & feet, around & under the nails, in the beard area and in the scalp.
