Calcarea carbonica:

The chief action of Calcarea carbonica is on the vegetative sphere, glands, skin and bones. It is used in the treatment of abscesses in deep muscles, polyp and exostosis and pituitary and thyroid dysfunction. The commonly indicated head symptoms include icy coldness on the head, open fontanelles with much perspiration. Lachrymal fistula and scrofulous ophthalmia are also treated with this remedy. Mental symptoms like apprehension, forgetfulness and obstinacy can be managed by the use of this remarkable preparation. Throat symptoms include swelling of tonsils and submaxillary glands and Parotid fistula.

Gastrointestinal symptoms like hyperchlorhydria, sour eructations and indigestion are important indications for the use of this remedy. The characteristic use of this preparation is in the swelling of inguinal and mesenteric glands. Of great use in gall stone colic, children’s diarrhoea, milky leucorrhoea and uterine polyps. Painless hoarseness with yellow and thick expectoration only during the day is relieved by it. Moreover, Calcarea carb is used in the cases of fever where chills begin at 2:00 p.m internally in stomach region. Petechial eruptions can also be treated by this remedy.
