Measles is an infectious disease caused by the measles virus (Measles morbillivirus). It is also known as morbili, rubeola, red measles, and English measles. It is an air borne disease and spreads very easily from one person to another through the cough and sneezes and through direct contact with mouth and nasal discharge.

Symptoms begin in about 10-14 days after exposure to the virus. Measles presents clinically with the classic symptoms of a 4-day fever (4 D's) and the 3 C's - cough, coryza and conjunctivitis; with a maculopapular rash.

Fever lasts for a week and is as High as 104 degree F. The characteristic Koplik's spots are seen inside the mouth and are diagnostic of this condition. Common complications include diarrhoea, middle ear infections and pneumonia.

Action of Ingredients:

Ferrum phosphoricum: All catarrhal and inflammatory fevers; first stage. Chill daily at 1 pm with desire to stretch. Fevers of unknown origin. Fevers, continued infectious, pneumonia intermittent, measles, hemorrhagic. Heat with sweaty hands. Short, painful, tickling cough. Croup. Hard, dry cough with sore chest. Hoarseness. Cough better at night. Predisposition to colds.

Kali muriaticum: Congestions and inflammations, second stage, of any organ or part of the body. Catarrhal fever, great chilliness, the least cold air chills him through, has to sit close to fire to keep warm and is chilly. Great value in catarrhal affections. Catarrh; phlegm white, thick. Stuffy cold. Hawking of mucus from posterior sinuses.

Kali sulphuricum: Rise of temperature at night. Intermittent fever, with a yellow slimy tongue. Profuse, easy sweat. Colds with yellow, slimy expectoration. Nose obstructed. Anosmia.
