According to WHO, anaemia is defined as blood haemoglobin (Hb) concentration < 13 g/dL or haematocrit (Hct) <39% in adult males; Hb <12 g/dL or Hct <37% in adult females. It can be caused by various conditions which lead to a decrease in circulating RBCs which can be due to inadequate production or increased RBC destruction.

Signs and symptoms depends on the level of anaemia and the course of time over which it develops. Acute anaemia is almost always due to blood loss or haemolysis where the clinical picture is that of hypovolemia. Moderate anaemia presents with fatigue, loss of stamina, breathlessness and tachycardia with pale skin and mucous membranes. Severe anaemia (Hb <8 g/dL) shows signs of hyper dynamic circulation - tachycardia, flow murmurs and cardiac enlargement.

Action of Ingredients:

Calcarea phosphorica: It is especially indicated in anaemias after acute diseases and chronic wasting diseases. Anaemic children who are peevish, flabby, have cold extremities and feeble digestion. Scrophulosis, chlorosis and phthisis.

Ferrum phosphoricum: The typical Ferr-p subject is not full blooded and robust, but nervous, sensitive, anaemic with the false plethora and easy flushing of Ferr. Ferr-p 3X increases haemoglobin. In pale, anaemic subjects, with violent local congestions. Night sweats of anaemia.

Natrum muriaticum: A great remedy for anaemia and chlorosis. Great debility; maximum weakness felt in the morning, in bed. Prolonged intake of salt causes profound nutritive changes in the system, resulting in salt retention, evidenced by dropsies, oedemas, and alteration in blood causing a condition of anaemia and leucocytosis.

Kali phosphoricum: Prostration, weak and tired. The kali-p patient is nervous, sensitive, weak and easily fagged, by slight causes like pain, worry, mental fatigue. Livid and sunken face with hollow eyes. Short breath on going upstairs.
