Cinchona officinalis: Cinchona or China officinalis was the first remedy proved by Dr Hahnemann. It acts upon the blood and circulation producing congestion and haemorrhages, anaemia, a state of complete relaxation and prolapse. There is marked debility due to profuse exhausting discharges, loss of vital fluids, excessive suppuration, diarrhoea, haemorrhages, etc. China is indicated in conditions with intermittent periodicity as in fevers and neuralgia. Patient is weak, nervous and oversensitive to light, noise, odours, and pain. It is indicated in the early stages of acute diseases, chronic gout, chronic suppurative pyelitis and in post-operative gas pains where there is no relief from passing it. There is flatulence where belching of bitter fluid or regurgitation of food gives no relief and it is worse on eating fruit. Stools are undigested, frothy, yellow and painless, worse at night, after meals, during hot weather, from fruit, milk and beer. |
